Case study

29,364 new products and a plate search, in a web shop that listed only tyres.

By 13 October 2026 kratt had added 29,364 new products to the web shop of RehvidTartus24, a tyre shop in Tartu. A buyer can now type a car’s number plate to find tyres that fit, through the shop’s own connection to the state vehicle register. Stock and prices come in from the wholesaler every two hours, from 06:00 to 20:00, and the shop has a new look.

How these were measured: The listed counts were read from the live shop on 14 October 2026 at 18:57 Tallinn time, the way any visitor can: open the page and read the result line. Rims: 24,277 at /kategooria/veljed/. Motorcycle tyres: 256 at /kategooria/mootorrattarehvid/. At the same moment the number-plate field was on the homepage and on /pood/. "Listed" means the product appears in the list, not that it is on a shelf in Tartu. It is also not the same as created: products that are out of stock or held back are not listed. The 29,364 new products, the import checks and the update timetable come from our own build records and cannot be checked from outside. The start state is our count of the shop’s public pages on 13 August 2026. The pictures in the chapters were captured on 13 October 2026, and the pictures of the shop’s new look on 14 October 2026.

What we built

kratt added 29,364 new products to RehvidTartus24, a tyre shop in Tartu, Estonia, inside the WooCommerce web shop it already had: 4,670 car and van tyres, 24,438 rims and 256 motorcycle tyres, all created by 13 October 2026. The same week the shop got a number-plate search on the state vehicle register, a stock and price update from its wholesaler that runs every two hours, and a new look for its lists, product pages and homepage.

  1. New products: 4,670 car and van tyres, 24,438 rims and 256 motorcycle tyres, created by 13 October 2026

  2. A number-plate search on the shop’s own connection to the state vehicle register (Transpordiamet)

  3. A stock and price update from the wholesaler that runs every two hours from 06:00 to 20:00

  4. New tyre rows, product pages, homepage category cards and menu links

  5. A rims section with eight filters and a motorcycle tyre section with six

  6. A cookie choice, with visitor statistics that start only after a yes, in Google accounts the shop controls

New in the shop

29,364 new products in a shop that sold only tyres.

On 13 August 2026 the web shop sold only tyres. It had no rims and no motorcycle tyres. By 13 October 2026 we had created 29,364 new products in it: 4,670 car and van tyres from the shop’s wholesaler, 24,438 rims and 256 motorcycle tyres.

  • The wholesaler’s tyres came in overnight, finishing early on 13 Oct 2026. Where the shop already had the same tyre, we matched it and left it where it was. Those 3,067 tyres are not counted as new
  • Rims and motorcycle tyres came in the same day in 986 small batches: 23,840 alloy rims, 554 steel rims and 256 motorcycle tyres. That afternoon the first full update from the wholesaler added 44 more rims
  • Listed on 14 Oct 2026 at 18:57: 24,277 rims and 256 motorcycle tyres. Products that are out of stock or held back are not listed, so fewer rims are listed than were created
  • Rims are found by fit, so their section has eight filters: diameter, rim width, bolt count, bolt pattern, ET, centre bore, brand and price. Motorcycle tyres have six

Number-plate search

Type the plate to find tyres that fit.

Since 13 October 2026 the homepage and the shop page have a field for the car’s number plate. The search is built to work like this: the buyer types the plate, the shop asks the state vehicle register, Transpordiamet, which tyre sizes fit that car, and each size is to come back as a button with the number of matching tyres in stock. The question goes through the shop’s own connection to the register, which kratt built and integrated.

  • It is set up to show only tyres the register allows for that car: the load and speed rating must be at or above the register’s minimum
  • A line under the field says the plate goes to Transpordiamet only to find the tyre size, and that the shop does not keep it
  • A plate typed in the wrong form gets a short hint in Estonian with an example
  • Checked from outside on 14 Oct 2026 at 18:57: the plate field is on the homepage and on the shop page
The number-plate field on the RehvidTartus24 homepage on a phone: the label "Auto registreerimisnumber", a field marked EST with the example 123 ABC, the button "Otsi rehve" and a line saying the number goes to Transpordiamet only to find the tyre size and is not stored.

Stock and prices

The wholesaler’s stock and prices, on a timetable.

In the evening of 13 October 2026 the stock and price update was switched on as a scheduled job on the shop’s own hosting. It runs every two hours from 06:00 to 20:00 Tallinn time, eight times a day, with no person and no computer of ours involved. Each run reads the wholesaler’s whole list in one go, 86,816 rows on 6 October 2026. It updates price and stock on the products already linked, adds rims and motorcycle tyres the wholesaler has newly stocked, and marks sold-out items as out of stock.

  • The first full update, on 13 Oct 2026, updated 298 tyres and 765 rims and motorcycle tyres, added 44 new rims and marked 122 items as sold out. It had no errors
  • A price that jumps more than usual is held for a person instead of going onto the shelf. Six were held on 13 Oct 2026
  • The shop’s own stock has its own field, and the update never overwrites it
  • If the updates stop, the shop does not go on selling old stock. 24 hours after the last full update the wholesaler’s products can no longer be bought, and the product page asks the buyer to get in touch. Selling starts again after the next good update. We tested this rule
  • If a run fails or does not report back within 30 minutes, an alarm e-mail goes out. Both cases were tried on 13 Oct 2026. Both times the alarm was sent, and the alarm for a failed run was confirmed in the inbox
New look

What a buyer now sees in the shop.

Since 12 October 2026 the tyre list shows one row per tyre in place of the old grid of cards. A row has the photo, the brand logo, the model, the size, the load and speed rating, the production year, the EU tyre label where the tyre has one, the stock line, the delivery note, the price per tyre and the buy button. The old grid is still there for anyone who prefers it, and the wishlist and compare buttons were kept.

  • The product page has the full technical data, the EU label scales and other offers in the same size when the shop has them
  • Three category cards on the homepage and three new shop links in the menu: Rehvid, Veljed, Mootorrattarehvid. The eight menu items already there were left as they were
  • The price page became one table of 13 rows (counted 14 Oct 2026) that reads on a phone. Every service and price was carried over unchanged, and one row was added
  • Four pages got small fixes on 13 Oct 2026: contact, home, prices and cleaning. On the price and cleaning pages the tables no longer push the page wider on a phone
  • The size search shows on its button how many tyres match, before it is pressed
One whole tyre row in the RehvidTartus24 list on a phone: tyre photo, brand logo, model Vi-388, summer tyre, size 205/55 R16, load index 94, speed rating W, production year 2026, the EU tyre label grades, the delivery lines, the stock line, the quantity field, the Osta button and the wishlist and compare buttons. The price and the delivery note are blurred.

How we worked

We read back every import and practised the undo first.

We built the new part beside the working shop, inside the WordPress and WooCommerce shop it already had. On 30 September 2026 we made a private test copy of the shop. From then on the new catalogue was tried there before it went onto the real shop. Payments were tested there too, in the payment provider’s practice mode, and only there. The shop stayed open while we built and was closed for planned release windows.

  • The tyre import that finished early on 13 Oct 2026 was read back: 7,737 of 7,737 tyres in place, none wrong, none missing, no duplicates and no product deleted
  • Rims and motorcycle tyres went in batches of at most 25, and a separate count of the live shop matched the plan. Twice a batch failed. Each time it was undone in full, fixed and run again, so nothing was left half-written
  • 12 Oct 2026: 3,950 products changed on the test copy and all 3,950 put back. Recovery was practised on a separate offline copy the same day
  • 11 Oct 2026: the stock update rehearsed on the test copy. None of its 45,911 products changed
  • 13 Oct 2026: 1,862 product photos copied over, each one checked against the original
Trust and findability

The plain jobs around the catalogue.

Since the night of 7 to 8 October 2026 a first visit shows a cookie card with three choices. The statistics box is not ticked in advance, and Google Analytics does not load until the visitor says yes. In Analytics the shop can see which pages and lists visitors open and what they put in the basket, counted only for visitors who said yes. The shop’s Google reviews can be opened on the shop’s own site: a first visit shows a notice and a button, and the reviews load after the visitor agrees.

  • The reviews block was checked against Google when it went live on 8 Oct 2026: 20 of 20 reviews matched
  • 24 Sep 2026: 40 lines added to the file that tells search engines what they may load (robots.txt), so they can load the styles, scripts and images the pages need. Every earlier rule was kept, and the result was checked on 92 addresses
  • 1 Oct 2026: Google Search Console and Google Analytics set up, and the shop’s list of pages sent to Google. The shop’s own accounts own Search Console, and the shop is the administrator of Analytics
  • 3 Sep 2026: the shop’s new phone number put in place across the site
  • A new section on cookies and Google services in the terms. The old chat widget is gone, and the phone number in the footer can be tapped to call

What we left alone

These are the things in a working shop that must not move, and they did not.

  • No release changed orders, customers or bookings, and the shop’s payment setup stayed as it was.
  • None of the products the shop already had was deleted.
  • The shop’s look still comes from the same theme and the same page builder. The earlier grid view, the wishlist and the compare button are still there.
  • Page addresses did not change. Existing pages and links were kept.
  • Every service and price on the price list was carried over unchanged, and one new row was added.
  • Truck tyres still come from the range the shop had before.

Ownership and handover

Current owner

The shop owns its web shop, its orders, customers and content, its hosting account, its wholesaler account, its connection to the state vehicle register and its payment setup. Its own accounts are the owners of Google Search Console, and the shop is the administrator of Google Analytics.

Kratt's role

kratt built the catalogue as an add-on that runs inside the shop’s own site, not on a server of ours. We built the connection to the wholesaler, built and integrated the shop’s connection to the state vehicle register, set up the two Google accounts, and worked in the hosting account with access the shop gave us. We did not touch the payment setup. We still run the releases.

Handover

Everything we built runs inside the shop’s own site and on its own hosting, so it stays with the shop. If a scheduled update fails or does not run, an alarm e-mail goes out.

What this page does not claim

  • Sales, revenue, orders or conversion. None of it was measured.
  • Visitor numbers. Analytics has counted only visitors who agree, and only since the night of 7 to 8 October 2026. We have not read it.
  • Google rankings, clicks or page speed. Search Console has existed for the shop since 1 October 2026, and no measurement from before the work exists.
  • That 29,364 products are listed today. That is what we created by 13 October 2026. The listed counts are lower and move with every update.
  • That the tyre range grew. We count the products we added, not the size of the whole tyre list.
  • A count of the scheduled updates that have run. We state the timetable the update was switched on with.
  • That the number-plate search finds tyres for every car. We state where it is and how it is built to work.
  • That the shop never closed. It was closed for planned release windows on 12 and 13 October 2026.
  • That every listed product is in stock or can be bought from the list. "Listed" is what we counted.
  • That payments, a real order or a real iPhone were tested by us on the live shop. Our payment tests ran only on the test copy.
  • Any delivery time, price or guarantee of ours. None is stated or implied.
Questions

What an owner asks about this work.

Did you replace the web shop the shop already had?

No. The new catalogue is an add-on built inside the same WordPress and WooCommerce shop, on the same theme. Orders, customers, bookings, page addresses and the payment setup stayed as they were, and no product was deleted.

How does the number-plate search know which tyres fit?

It is built to work like this: the buyer types the plate, and the shop asks the state vehicle register, Transpordiamet, through its own connection, which kratt built and integrated, for the tyre sizes of that car and the lowest load and speed rating allowed. The shop is set up to show only tyres at or above that rating, one button per size with the number in stock. The plate is used only to find the size and is not kept.

What happens if the stock update from the wholesaler stops?

If a run fails or does not report back within 30 minutes, an alarm e-mail goes out. If no full update has come through for 24 hours, the wholesaler’s products can no longer be bought and the product page asks the buyer to get in touch, so the shop does not sell stock it may not have. Selling starts again after the next good update.

What happens if a change goes wrong on the real shop?

Before every change to the real shop we saved its current state and wrote down the way back, then made the change and checked it. Before the new catalogue went onto the real shop we practised the undo: on 12 October 2026 we changed products on the test copy and put every one back. When a batch of rims failed during the import, it was undone in full and run again.

Did the new products bring more sales?

We do not know, and this page does not claim it. The new products went live on 12 and 13 October 2026 and no sales, visitor or ranking result has been measured. What anyone can count today is on the shop itself: the rims and the motorcycle tyres that were not there in August.
